NeuroMeditation for Stress Course
The vast majority of people are struggling with stress and stress related issues. This can create intense disruptions in our daily life and sometimes we can get stuck in our response to stress or in dysregulation. Learning to reduce and manage our stress can alter and greatly improve our experience of life. NeuroMeditation (brain-based) offers effective tools for reducing and regulating our stress and our stress response. This class will introduce students to a variety of NeuroMeditative tools for reducing stress, managing stress when it arises and increasing quality of life.
Through this class students will learn: the basics of using NeuroMeditation for Stress; how NM impacts the brain, the nervous system and the Vagus Nerve and how that relates to Stress; which styles of Meditation are most helpful for Stress and when to use them; how to practice movement meditations and sitting NeuroMeditations for Stress- using a variety of imagery and senses.
NeuroMeditation:
can be a profound tool to reduce the impacts of stress, to manage the stress response and to reduce overall stress levels
increases calm and quiet in the system - aids in shifting into the calm/rest/safe state of the parasypathetic nervous system
brings stillness to the racing mind
fosters a sense of being grounded and anchored in the immovable center
generates inner quiet
builds self awareness
fosters interoception - awareness of what is happening in the body
increases self- regulation
restores balance of the mind and body
Learning Objectives:
As a result of completing the course, students will be able to:
understand the foundation of NeuroMeditation and the effects it has on the brain
use NM to respond to various states of stress
relate how NM impacts or affects the Vagus Nerve - plus basics about the nerve, and the critical role it plays in our lived experience of daily life
select from the various ways to practice the NM styles to regulate the stress response
practice movement meditations to reduce and manage stress
practice sitting NeuroMeditations for stress
identify which of the senses students most easily engage with, as a pathway to reducing stress
determine what type of imagery they most strongly connect with and understand the importance of connecting with the "right" imagery for the each individual
access links and resources for continued practice and for other tools that can be beneficial for people living with Stress
After the course, students will have: a basic understanding of NeuroMeditation, the nervous system and the Vagus Nerve, and their role in our experience of and response to stress; insight into the various manifestations of the negative impacts of stress, and which styles of NeuroMeditation are most helpful; knowledge of how and when to practice these NeuroMeditations to reduce and regulate stress; experience soothing, calming and restoring of the self, through movement meditations and sitting meditations; recognition of which senses and imagery their brains connect with most easily; and the tools and ability to continue independent practice at home.

Length = 2 weeks at 1 hr/wk
