The Trump Administration cut funding for the
specific LGBTQ+ part of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
Beginning in JULY 2025
If you are LGBTQ+, you will not receive the quality of the previous (specialized and appropriate) support through the 988 line and will be better supported by calling or texting other crisis support lines
Here are some options for other LGBTQ+ Suicide and Crisis support:
The Trevor Project: Offers crisis intervention and suicide prevention services for LGBTQ young people (ages 13-24). They provide a lifeline (1-866-488-7386), text support (Text START to 678-678), and online chat, available 24/7.
Trans Lifeline: A peer support hotline run by and for transgender people, offering direct emotional and financial support, available 24/7. The US number is 1-877-565-8860 and the Canadian number is 1-877-330-6366.
LGBT National Hotline: Provides peer counseling, information, and resources for callers of all ages. Available Monday-Friday, 4pm - 12am ET and Saturday, 12pm - 5pm ET at 1-888-843-4564.
LGBT National Youth Talkline: Specifically for youth up to age 25, offering information, support, and local resources. Available Monday-Friday, 4pm - 12am ET and Saturday, 12pm - 5pm ET at 1-800-246-7743.
Mindfulness and Quiet Mind practices are rooted in ALLOWING. If you aren't ready to allow what may come up, from your thoughts, feelings or sensations, you will want to stick with Focus and Open Heart practices until you are ready. Talk with your therapist if you are unsure or for support in working with those practices.
Focus and Open Heart stabilize the mind and generate balance throughout the system.

Comparing Two Interventions To Reduce Activation Through Accessing the Vagus Nerve
Both interventions in this study were beneficial for reducing Hyper AND Hypo activation/arousal. One is passive and doesn't require you to do anything with your mind or breath. The other is a Bi-Lateral Anchoring NeuroMeditation, for those who enjoy meditation.

This meditation is pretty self explanatory. It can offer some sense of soothing to the pain.

Increasing Your Sense of SAFETY -
This is PARAMOUNT after loss from suicide and it isn't as simple as it seems!
Our sense of safety is shattered in both the heart and mind after loss from Suicide. Learning to foster safety for yourself, not only provides the solace and comfort you desperately need, but also, empowers you with tools to best support yourself through this process. This kind of loss UPENDS everything and finding your way through it requires that you tend yourself well.
Surviving this loss, and all the destruction it brings, can feel like an impossible feat. However, there ARE tools which can: help light your way when you cannot see, help you float when you feel you are drowning, anchor and ground you when you feel cast into the storm, soothe and comfort the unbearable pain of your shattered heart, protect you when you feel raw and vulnerable, and empower you to manage and regulate the INTENSE (and automatic) nervous system responses that come as a result of this kind of Trauma. These are SOME tools I have found which helped me in all of these ways.

The system responds and can return to calm when you send it messages of safety. This meditation is helpful for that, or whenever you need a barrier to the world, a deep sense of safety, unconditional love and support, or when you are doing difficult work. Practicing often can help restore a sense of safety.

Temperament, Personality and Perception - Why They Are Important NOW
Knowing what temperament you are at a base level can help you as you come to KNOW YOURSELF more fully.
We come into the world having a base temperament. This is our Nature. Who we are is comprised of this and our NURTURING or how we were nurtured. Understanding your nature can offer you amazing insight into yourself. Exploring the impacts of how you were nurtured or where you weren't allows you to see the story that is YOU. Our Nature can't be radically changed. However when we come to understand ourselves better we can gain the awareness to make choices which are in alignment with our nature so that our lives can feel more peaceful and fulfilling. It is part of learning to truly love, accept and respect yourself and the WONDER which you ARE! No one is the same as us... we are connected and can have shared experiences, but the internal world that is us is something which is as unique as our fingerprint.
When surviving loss from Suicide, understanding yourself more fully can help as you find your way to be in the world with this loss and how much that impacts our sense of self, of purpose and so finding our way forward. When you feel like you have shattered into a million pieces, re-acquainting yourself with the root essence of who you are can help you feel your ground as you come back together in a new way.
Take time to answer the questions slowly and honestly for accuracy. They offer a breakdown of interesting and helpful information that can help you gain insight into yourself.
Our perception of the world can be radically impacted by loss from suicide. Taking the time to examine yours can be helpful with the changes that can come with this kind of loss.
