Open Heart Meditations can help make the world a better place. Ensure you ask yourself WHO you may be leaving out or excluding from the LOVE you send out into the world. Also try focusing on sending love to someone who you struggle with, feel anger towards or even feel intense feelings of hatred for. THAT is a REAL challenge. However, when we do this and GENUINELY feel it, we are expanding our own capacity for love and THIS breaks down barriers which separate us and reduces the "otherizing" so common in our society today.
To truly make your efforts more than simply your personal experience in meditation, ensure that you are bringing that Open Hearted LOVE into ALL you do in life... your thoughts, feelings, words, and actions. Creating a world with less suffering begins with YOU!
Basic Flow of All Open Heart Meditations:
Step 1: Build and generate love in the heart
Step 2: Direct this to yourself first - giving unconditional love to YOU
Step 3: Continue to build/generate love and direct this to your family, friends, loved ones
Step 4: Build the love again/some more and direct this to your community, to the world or to specific peoples in the world
** Start with the self and then expand to those closest and then outward from there, community, world. This process makes the self smaller while also creating a greater sense of connection with the world and being WOVEN into it. **
