Course Description
Introduction to NeuroMeditation Course
Learn the basics of the Four Styles of NeuroMeditation: Focus, Mindfulness, Open Heart and Quiet Mind. NeuroMeditation is a brain-based approach to meditation, which is rooted in the fact that no single type of meditation is right for all people, or at all times; this is because each style affects the brain differently. Understanding the distinct ways each style impacts the brain helps us to identify which to choose at any given time. We spend time working with each style to: highlight foundational information; brain effects; the various ways to practice within each style; practice movement meditations and sitting meditation; experience the differences between them; identify which route and which style may be best for YOU. Once you know which you need, it is recommended to take the more indepth courses for each style.
Learning Objectives:
After the result of completing the course, students will be able to:
understand the basics about and foundation of NeuroMeditation
differentiate each style and the different impacts on the brain
identify when to practice each style - to respond to various states of being (stress, anxiety, depression, grief, etc.)
relate how each style impacts or affects the Vagus Nerve - as well as basics about the nerve, and the critical role it plays in our lived experience of daily life
practice the various routes within each style - to determining which ROUTE of practice their brain most responds to or connects with most easily
engage in movement meditations for each style
practice sitting NeuroMeditations for each style
ascertain which of the senses they connect with most easily as a route for engaging with the Four Styles of NM
determine what type of imagery they most strongly connect with and understand the importance of connecting with the "right" imagery for the each individual
access links and other resources for continued practice
After the course, students will have: a basic understanding of the Four Styles of NeuroMeditation; knowledge about the nervous system, the critical role of the Vagus Nerve and how to use NM tools to regulate the nervous system; experience practicing the Four Styles of NM through movement meditations and sitting meditations; insight into which senses and imagery they connect with best; tools and ability to continue independent practice at home.
