Course Description
NeuroMeditation for PTSD Course
Living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Complex PTSD can be an inexplicably painful and grueling challenge. It can seriously upend our lives. Learning effective tools to manage symptoms and activation can make a enormous difference in people's quality of life and their lived experience. NeuroMeditation (brain-based) can be a profound tool for understanding PTSD, for learning to regulate and mange the symptoms and activation, for reducing intensity and frequency of activation and soothing the inner turmoil of PTSD. All of this aids in improving well-being, fosters a sense of empowerment to not feel at the mercy of trauma, increases quality of life and can bring balance and equilibrium to some of the extremes that can come with PTSD.
Through this class students will learn: the basics of using NeuroMeditation for PTSD; how NeuroMeditation impacts the brain, the nervous system and the Vagus Nerve and how that relates to PTSD; which NeuroMeditation styles are most helpful for various states of activation; learn how to regulate the nervous system with NM; how to practice movement meditation and sitting NeuroMeditations to bring safety, calm, balance and to restore the system; how to identify which of the senses engage their brain the most, and which imagery is best for them.
NeuroMeditation:
can interrupt the signalling of the amygdala and activation
aids in calming and quieting the nervous system and in shifting into the calm/rest/safe state of the parasypathetic nervous system
increases self awareness and self regulation

determine which of the senses they connect with most as a pathway of reducing activation and reestablishing safety
access links and resources for continued pratice and for other tools that can be beneficial for people living with PTSD
After the course, students will have: a basic understanding of NeuroMeditation; knowledge of the nervous system and the Vagus Nerve, and their role in our experience of PTSD; insight into the various manifestations of PTSD and which styles of NeuroMeditation are most helpful; knowledge of how and when to practice these NeuroMeditations to reduce and regulate PTSD; experience with soothing, calming and restoring the self, through movement meditations and guided sitting NeuroMeditations; recognition of which senses and imagery their brains connect with most easily; and the tools and ability to continue independent practice at home.
