Course Description
This specialized course provides a targeted, brain-based approach to managing and interrupting Depression. It helps students distinguish between various types of depression, including active and inactive states, to accurately select the most beneficial NeuroMeditation (NM) style for their current needs. The curriculum focuses on leveraging NM practices and neuro-tools to actively reduce the frequency of depressive cycles and assist in shifting out of an active state of depression. Students will learn how NM helps balance the mind by addressing typical neural asymmetry in the depressed brain, significantly reducing rumination, self-judgment, and feelings of loneliness or isolation. Techniques are taught to soften deep inner pain, diminish psycho-motor slowing, and, crucially, to assist in lifting out of a depressive state. The curriculum emphasizes experiential learning, integrating both sitting and movement meditations to connect students with the optimal sensory routes and imagery for their unique neurobiology.
Define the types of depression (active/inactive) and their typical manifestations to determine the most effective NM interventions.
Employ NeuroMeditations to reduce rumination, diminish loneliness, and assist in lifting out of a depressive cycle.
Relate the relationship between depression and the Vagus Nerve and use NM practices to restore equilibrium to the system.
Cultivate self-acceptance and self-forgiveness to foster inner peace and increase feelings of connection.
