Course Description
This specialized, trauma-informed course is dedicated to providing effective, brain-based strategies for individuals living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Complex PTSD. It explores how trauma upends the nervous system and offers NeuroMeditation (NM), and other Neuro-Tools, as a profound means for understanding, regulating, and managing symptoms. The curriculum teaches students how to use NM to interrupt the signaling of the amygdala and reduce the intensity and frequency of activation. You'll gain crucial knowledge on how NM impacts the Vagus Nerve to soothe and quiet the system, actively shifting it into the parasympathetic calm/safe state. The course emphasizes practices that increase self-awareness and self-regulation, help the mind return to the present moment from the past, and soothe inner turmoil. The curriculum emphasizes experiential learning, integrating both sitting and movement meditations to connect students with the optimal sensory routes and imagery for their unique neurobiology.
Understand the core neurological impacts of trauma, including the role of the amygdala and how the Vagus Nerve is affected by PTSD activation.
Determine and apply specific NeuroMeditation styles to effectively respond to the various felt states (e.g., hyper-arousal, emotional pain) of PTSD.
Integrate NM techniques to interrupt activation, quiet the nervous system, and return the mind and body to a neutral/calm state.
Cultivate self-awareness, self-regulation, and inner quiet, fostering a sense of control and empowerment over trauma-related symptoms.
